Maya Lin-Manuel Miranda's Netflix flic has a musical new trailer

With one Lin-Manuel Miranda project on the horizon – In The Heights arrives on HBO Easy lay and in cinemas imminently – some other has already shown its face. Netflix has released the first dawdler for Tick of, Tick... Boom!, the Hamilton music maker's characteristic-length directorial debut.

Beat, Click... Boom! centers on the teenaged composer Jon, played by Andrew Garfield, who's wait tables at a New York buffet car spell hoping to break away with a cracking North American country ariose. Days before a big operation, the pressure builds, with Jon's girlfriend dreaming of a spirit beyond New York and his best friend hoping for financial security system rather than a name in lights. The picture is supported Jonathan Larson's autobiographical musical – Larson found fame as the creator of Rent.

The trailer features Garfield telling – and sounding good. We haven't detected his song prowess before, but there's no denying the Spider-Man actor's got information technology. Yet, it should be notable that, unequal Hamilton, this musical is non complete singing, with some actual spoken news in between the songs.

Check off, Tick... Boom! also stars Vanessa Hudgens, Alexandra Shipp, Erithacus rubecol de Jesús, and Thomas Bradley Whitford. The screenplay is by Dear Evan Hansen author Steven Levenson, while Miranda, Ron Howard, Julie Oh, and Howard's old collaborator Brian Grazer serve as producers.

Miranda has a extended year out front. Not only can we expect In The Heights on HBO Max and in cinemas before long, but Miranda voices the main character in Vivo – which is heading to Netflix later this year – and has penned songs for the Disney spirited musical Encanto, which reaches cinemas in November.
